Moscow this year… Winter is gone

When it comes to Russia, the image of being cold is strong. But Russia cannot escape from global warming. It is said that Moscow recorded a record warmer weather during the first 12-February period in the history of observation, exceeding zero in winter, 6.3 degrees higher than normal. This incredible warmth was manifested in unusually warm, low-snow winters not only in Moscow, but throughout the Eurasian continent.

Now, there are frequent reports that it was the hottest or warmest in history. But nonetheless, this Moscow record is surprising. It is 3 degrees higher than the average temperature in 1961, the warmest so far. It is the highest level for 140 years remaining on record.

One expert said that this winter in Moscow could not be called winter, and that all winter temperatures were above 0 degrees Celsius or a little lower than that. Other regions, including the Russian Arctic, are also likely to be the warmest winter ever observed. This extreme warmth has spread across the Russian border to Finland and parts of Europe. Germany is no exception. In Germany, grapes for frozen wine are harvested when the temperature drops below -7 degrees Celsius, but this winter was not.

The rise in temperature due to the climate crisis is one of the reasons winter is not like winter. It is becoming difficult to say that this warmth recorded around the world has nothing to do with carbon dioxide pollution. Carbon dioxide rises in temperature and is prone to extremes. It is said that Siberian land, where the cold is likely to disappear in the future, will benefit and become a luxury property by 2100.

The most obvious answer to the reason why the temperature in Moscow has risen so much this winter is that the cyclone was congested in the northwest of Moscow, and the westerly wind maintained a strong trend throughout the winter. The western-style wind served as a factor that continuously sent warm air to the mosque and surrounding areas. This phenomenon is characterized by strong atmospheric circulation around the Arctic, where high pressure stagnates in the central North Atlantic. It is said that because the high pressure persists, cold air that had to come down to the mid-latitude region was trapped in the Arctic Circle, and warm air circulated in mid-latitude regions such as Moscow.

In the long run, the temperature difference between the arctic and mid-latitude imprisonment, which warms at twice the rate of other regions, decreases, and when that happens, the jet stream that traps the arctic air moves in a mess. And water shortages can be extreme. In order to solve this problem, eventually, the amount of carbon dioxide trapped in the Arctic must be reduced.

Meanwhile, on February 17, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezoso announced the Bezos Earth Fund, a new $10 billion fund through Instagram. Bezos said that climate change is the greatest threat to the planet, and that he wants to work with others to disseminate known methods and find new ways to combat the devastating effects of climate change on the planet as a whole.

Today, I’m thrilled to announce I am launching the Bezos Earth Fund.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Climate change is the biggest threat to our planet. I want to work alongside others both to amplify known ways and to explore new ways of fighting the devastating impact of climate change on this planet we all share. This global initiative will fund scientists, activists, NGOs — any effort that offers a real possibility to help preserve and protect the natural world. We can save Earth. It’s going to take collective action from big companies, small companies, nation states, global organizations, and individuals. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I’m committing $10 billion to start and will begin issuing grants this summer. Earth is the one thing we all have in common — let’s protect it, together.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ – Jeff

How to use the funds is not yet clear. This amount is about twice the amount donated by American philanthropists to climate change. If this amount is used equally for 10 years, Bezos will be America’s largest climate philanthropist.

To respond to climate change, society must be fundamentally changed. Transmission grid infrastructure or food systems must be replaced with new ones, which come at a cost. Since the early 1980s, the proportion of wealth occupied by 400 rich people, who accounted for 0.00025% of the top US, has tripled. This can be a problem for the climate. This is because when wealth is concentrated, the influence on politics is concentrated in one place, rather than enjoying travel or yachting with private jets.

Billionaires can use their wealth and power to buy politicians and lobby for profits at the expense of the planet. By comparison, Bezos can be said to be like an adult. But Amazon also provides services to companies that fight climate change, and Bezos also benefits from them. Not threatening or offending the existence of these companies is a financial advantage for Bezos.

For this reason, it is pointed out that it is not good to rely only on some billionaires for climate change countermeasures, even if Bezos paid for it. The role of Bezos’ funding is to spread the idea that billionaires should use their wealth to make an impact on the world. Some experts say that taxes and taxation on businesses can dedicate more money to climate change countermeasures and important investments. It would be important to collect taxes on large multinational corporations, but of course, better not to emit carbon dioxide. Related information can be found here .

Through the monthly AHC PC and HowPC magazine era, he has watched 'technology age' in online IT media such as ZDNet, electronic newspaper Internet manager, editor of Consumer Journal Ivers, TechHolic publisher, and editor of Venture Square. I am curious about this market that is still full of vitality.
