Samsung Electronics Ships 1 Million of DRAMs for First EUV Adoption

Samsung Electronics announced that it has shipped 1 million DDR4 SDRAM modules using EUV exposure technology.

The new DDR4 DRAM module adopts 10nm EUV exposure technology, and accordingly, it is said that it is possible to shorten the performance, yield, and development period by reducing multi-pattern repetition, which is a problem of scaling, and increasing accuracy.

According to Samsung Electronics, EUV-based DDR4 DRAM modules are expected to be used in premium market PCs, portable devices, enterprise servers, and data centers. Samsung Electronics will also adopt EUV technology for DDR5 and LPDDR5 DRAMs, which are expected to go into mass production next year. In anticipation of increasing demand for next-generation premium DRAM products, the second semiconductor production line in Pyeongtaek is also scheduled to operate this year.
